Replacing a 4YS pump motor: match the supply before the kilowatts

A 1.5 kW 4YSM1500 and a 1.5 kW 4YS1500 do not need the same supply, controller or installation space. The single-phase unit is 25 mm longer in the 50 Hz table. Use the actual winding and capacitor arrangement to identify the replacement, then check the pump coupling and submerged installation.

Two 1.5 kW choices, two electrical installations

These are individual 50 Hz rows, both at approximately 2,850 rpm. Current values belong to their stated supply; the lower three-phase current is not evidence of a 62% energy saving.

Read M and N before ordering the control equipment

M identifies single phase; N changes the capacitor location

The naming diagram uses 4YSM250(N): M means single phase, while no M means three phase. N denotes a built-in capacitor; without N the diagram specifies an external capacitor. The performance table labels its single-phase rows without N, so do not assume a built-in-capacitor replacement has identical wiring or dimensions.

Retain the controller only after checking its motor arrangement

The range offers a starting control box or digital automatic control box, and built-in-capacitor single-phase motors are an option. Include the existing box identification and motor lead arrangement in the inquiry. A 4YSM1500 replacement must match that circuit; the 4YS1500 three-phase row is not an alternative that can run from the same single-phase box.

Four-inch size is not the complete pump interface

The catalogue states NEMA dimension standards but its posted outline only labels overall L. Check the shaft spline or coupling, mounting register, fasteners and permissible pump thrust on the selected motor drawing. The 25 mm length difference above affects the assembly envelope; neither the common power rating nor nominal well size proves that the pump end will fit.

An oil-filled motor still needs the right water installation

Check the pumping water level, not only the static level

The installation illustration shows vertical operation with the pump fully submerged, at least 5 m above the well bottom, and a stated maximum depth of 80 m. Treat those as the illustrated installation limits, not a hydraulic head rating. Record the water level while pumping and the intended setting depth so the intake and motor remain correctly submerged.

35°C water limit and actual bore clearance

The 4YS operating conditions give a maximum fluid temperature of 35°C and a minimum four-inch well; the product introduction says over 100 mm. Measure the clear bore with the cable and coupling allowance rather than assuming a nominal four-inch casing guarantees passage. IP68 does not establish an unlimited immersion depth or permission for hotter water.

Select the hydraulic end separately

The 4YS table lists motor shaft output, current and efficiency, not pump flow versus head. For the 1.5 kW comparison, choose the pump duty from its own curve and check the required shaft power against the selected motor over the operating range. An 80 m installation statement cannot be used as a promise that this motor-and-pump combination will deliver the required flow at 80 m head.

Specify the top support and seal materials

The casing and bottom support are listed as AISI 304 stainless steel; the top support has separate cast-copper-alloy, cast-iron and AISI 304 alternatives. The standard seal description is graphite–ceramic, with special seals available on request. Specify the actual water conditions and chosen construction; the range listing does not establish that every assembly has an all-stainless top or drinking-water certification.

CATALOGUE OVERVIEW

About this motor series

DOYIN lists the 4YS as a rewindable, oil-filled motor for deep-well pump installations. The manufacturer specifies wells over 100 mm in diameter, 2,850 rpm at 50 Hz, class F insulation and IP68 protection. Its published applications include well or reservoir water supply and irrigation.

The motor is a drive component; the pump hydraulic section must be selected separately. Confirm the exact motor rating, shaft and coupling dimensions, starting arrangement, cable length and cooling conditions against your pump. The published maximum fluid temperature is 35°C. Request the selected model datasheet before ordering.
