TSSN hygienic motors: specify the wash process as well as the drive

The TSSN family is designed around frequent cleaning: a 316L stainless-steel body, no cooling fins, an unpainted surface and markings engraved on the rear cover. Those construction choices help define the candidate motor; the cleaning recipe, flange interface and electrical connection still determine the assembly to order.

Make the cleaning procedure part of the motor specification

Use the smooth exterior without creating new cleaning traps

The manufacturer describes a finless, unpainted exterior with engraved markings for food, beverage, pharmaceutical and cosmetic processing equipment. Check access around the installed motor, flange and cable entry: the smooth motor body alone does not resolve inaccessible joints introduced by the machine installation.

Put numbers on the wash cycle

The published feature list states IP69K and discusses hot, high-pressure washing. For the actual assembly, submit water temperature, jet pressure, nozzle distance, duration and frequency, and request the applicable test report and sealing details. The page does not supply those test conditions, so the marking is not treated here as approval of every wash process.

316L does not identify every wetted material

Send the detergent or disinfectant name, concentration, contact time and rinse procedure. Ask for compatibility of the shaft seal, cable gland and any other exposed non-metallic parts as well as the 316L housing. The public specification does not identify the seal compound or provide a chemical-resistance table.
